There’s a great selection of hot and cold sandwiches and other light bites available from 12pm to 5pm. Choose from traditional cheese and pickle, to a mouthwatering hot roast pork with stuffing and apple sauce, all served with chunky chips and a side salad. Or for those just fancying a cuppa and cake, there’s always a choice of tempting homemade cakes for you to chose from, or a delightful cream tea.
The main menu has a fabulous selection of starters and a huge range of main courses! Keeping with the traditional feel of Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, you’ll find lots of firm favourites such as fish & chips, sausage & mash, ham & egg, pastas and salads, but then there’s so much more……….
There’s a delicious choice of pies including their famous Inn Keeper Pie, filled with steak, bacon, black pudding, potatoes and carrots, topped with rich homemade gravy. Or why not try one of their 12’’ stone-baked pizzas with a variety of toppings? Or maybe one of their succulent burgers, such as Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Stack – a double beef burger with a homemade BBQ glaze, cheese, onion rings, tomato, lettuce, pickle served on a brioche bun with chips, side salad and coleslaw.
For those with a smaller appetite, there’s plenty of small plate options to choose from such as scampi and chips, as well as moreish sharing platters such as the Greek Platter with kofta kebab, grilled halloumi, Greek salad, garlic bread and tzatziki.
Traditional Sunday roasts are served alongside the regular menu from 12 noon every Sunday, with a choice of meats, or even a trio, served with all traditional trimmings, Yorkshire Pudding and amazing homemade gravy.
The children will be more than happy with a great kids menu and of course, for those who still have room, a scrumptious dessert menu!

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn is located in Castleton, one of the most popular villages in the Peak District, and you will soon see why! This picturesque village has a wonderful feel about it, with lots of cafes, independent shops, and other traditional pubs on narrow lanes, lined with pretty stone cottages. It’s extremely popular at Christmas too, with its wonderful display of traditional Christmas lights. It’s the perfect base for walkers and cyclists with stunning walks and well known bike rides right from the door. For those seeking a little more adventure, there’s even paragliding and caving!
History enthusiasts will love walking among the ruins of one of England’s earliest Norman fortresses, Peveril Castle. A walk up to the castle offers visitors the chance to admire the breathtaking views over the Hope Valley.
The many cave systems surrounding Castleton attract visitors all year round, and the stunning show caverns in the village make a great day out, no matter what the weather or time of year.
No visit to Castleton is complete without climbing Mam Tor while you’re in the area. This fairly easy route provides the most impressive views over the surrounding countryside. Or, if you feel like venturing further afield, Castleton is also the perfect gateway to the moorland and hill trails over Kinder Scout.
